The University That Removes Boundaries

Established on July 5, 2010, the Bartın University Distance Education Application and Research Center brings together the academic staff of Bartın University through a Distance Education System that eliminates boundaries and offers flexible learning pace. The Bartın University Distance Education Application and Research Center (BUZEM) aims to provide a time- and location-independent educational program designed for young people who wish to pursue higher education, employees who cannot find time to attend university due to busy work schedules, individuals who value and wish to advance their personal development, and those seeking to further their careers. At our center, distance education programs will be offered in many different fields at the associate, undergraduate, and graduate levels primarily including master’s programs under the Faculty of Forestry at Bartın University. In addition, certificate and specialization programs will be introduced by taking into account the needs of working professionals. BUZEM has a strong team consisting of instructional technologists, graphic and animation designers, programmers, assessment and evaluation specialists, and subject-matter experts. By utilizing the most advanced technologies in technical hardware and software infrastructure, BUZEM is rapidly completing its institutional development and is being prepared for education with its Learning Management System, Virtual Classroom Application, and Internet Laboratories.

Independence of Time and Place in Education

Programs offered within BUZEM will be conducted independently of time and place. Neither the distinguished academic staff who teach in the system nor the students will be required to come to the university or any designated location for education. Both instructors and students will not need to leave their cities or locations to participate in classes. No matter where they are in the world on the road, traveling, on vacation, on a business trip, in a field, on a mountain, or by the seaside anyone with a portable computer and a wireless internet connection will be able to actively participate in classes.

Opportunity to Conduct Courses with Rich and Interactive Tools

Educational programs conducted within BUZEM will take place entirely in a virtual environment, both synchronously (in real time) and asynchronously (at different times). Just as in face to face classroom education, well-known academics and students will come together in a virtual classroom, where they will be able to see and hear each other, ask questions, carry out experimental applications related to the topics, perform case analyses, and engage in brainstorming. In virtual classes, many instructional tools will be used as in traditional education, such as whiteboards, PowerPoint presentations, videos, case studies, multimedia tools, animations, and simulations.

Today, receiving high quality education is a difficult opportunity to obtain for many people. The cost of moving from one’s village, town, or city to large metropolitan areas and continuing education there has reached high levels, becoming a burden that families with low and middle incomes cannot bear. To participate in educational programs organized within BUZEM, no one will be required to leave their current location. Renowned academics from well-known universities in Türkiye and around the world will virtually visit the homes of students even in the most remote parts of the country, bringing rich and effective educational tools, thus ensuring equal opportunity in education. The Bartın University Distance Education Application and Research Center (BUZEM) is a program approved by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), and the diplomas awarded will have national and international validity.
